Seminar: Employment of Roma in the context of the current economic situation
On February 7, 2024, a seminar on the topic of Roma Employment in the Context of the Current Economic Situation was held in the Kolkárne building in the village of Zborov, which was held thanks to the support of Norwegian grants and co-financing from the state budget of the Slovak Republic.
After the registration of the participants, the seminar was opened by the organizer and main coordinator of the project, who welcomed those present and introduced them to the main idea of the seminar and then gave the floor to the mayor of the village. The first partner presented was the director of the social enterprise ZBOR-STAV, s.r.o., r.s.p. with his experiences with employing Roma in the construction sector. He was followed by mentors from the civic association Cesta von with a presentation of the association's individual programs. They highlighted the goal of the project with their own experiences working with Roma. After a short coffee break, a representative of the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs gave a presentation, who presented work with the unemployed in the National Project - Field Social Work.
Following the NP TSP, a field social worker from the municipality of Zborov also spoke as part of this project, and during her presentation, a representative of the Secondary Vocational School and the director of the Harmonia facility in Chmeľová also provided their experiences. The first round of lectures concluded with a subsequent discussion with the participants over lunch.
After the lunch break, the Local, Civic and Preventive Service of Zborov and other ongoing projects in the municipality of Zborov were presented. The seminar ended with a free discussion and a second coffee break.
The main idea of the seminar was to present projects dealing not only with the employment of Roma, to bring closer the economic aspects of their employment and to point out real experiences of the given topic. We would like to thank all participants for their presentations.
